Q. Why a competition?
A. The poster competition gives young artists a way to express how the HIV/AIDS epidemic affects their built environment while also becoming more involved in using art for social awareness at the same time.
Q. How will I get information about who won?
A. Visit the competition website at http://www.archiveinstitute.org/poster_competition after January 31, 2008 to see a list of all winners.
Q. How can I see other entries that have been submitted?
A. Selected entries will appear on the competition website, and/or you may visit one of the exhibition sites which will also be listed on the competition’s website.
Q. What are we aiming to solve?
A. The goal of the competition is to bring the fight against HIV/AIDS to the forefront with a focus on the elements of housing, environment, and the home.
Q. I am 19 years old and still in high school. I would like to enter the competition, will I be eligible?
A. The maximum age for participation in the competition is 18 years.
Q. I don’t know much about what HIV/AIDS has to do with housing, the home, or community. Where can I find some information on this?

Q. If I submit an entry by mail, do I still have to submit an electronic submission by email?
A. No.
Q. If I submit an entry by email, do I still have to make a submission by regular mail?
A. Only if you have been notified as being a finalist.
Q. Is it OK to borrow/use artwork from other sources for use in my design?
A. Participants are not encouraged to take ideas directly from other sources but new ideas that are inspired by other sources are okay.
Q. I am a parent who wants to help my 3 year old with a design submission, what do I do?
A. Only children between the ages of 6 and 18 are eligible to enter the competition. However, don’t be discouraged, there are many other ways for you and your family to get involved. These include organizing a local competition in your area. contact us to learn more.
Q. I am a teacher who wants to use this competition for a one day art/social studies activity. How can I begin this process?
A. Click on the link at the poster competition website titled, “Toolkit for educators”
Q. I do not see a location near to where I live that the traveling exhibit will be, is there a way in which I can help to organize a local exhibit in my area?
