CHILDREN AND CREATIVITY Version: FLASH
  1. Art has proven to keep children in school, provide motivation, and help children better understand the world in which they live.
  2. Art improves children's motivation, encourages self-discipline, and open-mindedness.
  3. Extensive studies show that children who participate in the arts have higher overall assessment scores.
  4. For young people at risk, involvement in the arts can improve academic performance, reduce truancy, decrease delinquent behavior, and give kids a chance at a better life.

The importance of art in a child's education is clear; however art education is on a decline.  The ARCHIVE Institute understands the importance of art in school and therefore has enlisted children in the fight against HIV/AIDS while bringing the cause for creativity as a form of activism to classrooms around the world.

Children as Leaders

Young people today face many personal challenges.  Children who are aware of and become involved with issues in their community are able to face the world in a more confident manner, with stronger character and a more positive attitude.  The empowerment gained from social involvement as a young person can foster continued awareness well into adulthood.  For these reasons it is imperative that children become actively involved in their communities from an early age.

The ARCHIVE Institute poster competition is just one way for youth to get involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS, a cause that directly affects communities around the world.
